Week 3– June 7th
Dear THAT Families,
With the first swim meet fast approaching, we would like to make sure that all parents let us know by this Wednesday, June 9th if their child will not be able to attend. We will be posting the meet line-up by Monday of next week. There will be boards outside of the main gates of the pool with each swimmers name and the events they will be swimming in the first meet versus Church Run on June 16th. With 220 swimmers on the team, we will do our best to make sure everyone is matched to events they both like and are capable of swimming. We would like to ask that everyone please verify their events and discuss with the coaching staff any issues before the day of the swim meets. It is much easier to make changes in advance than on the day of the meet.
On the day of the swim meet, there will be white boards posted outside of the main gate. These boards will have the relays teams for the week listed out. Please make sure to check the white boards on the day of the meet before your child swims in a relay. We often have numerous changes and instead of happening to track down each individual swimmer it is much easier to post it this way. Please note that most of the changes will not occur until after warm-ups when we know which swimmers did not positive check in.
This week we will continue to work on starts with the younger swimmers throughout the week. We will also be focusing on freestyle on Monday, backstroke on Tuesday, and breaststroke on Wednesday. Our goal is to try to get each child legal in as many strokes as possible before the first swim meet. Thursday will be a day with lots of choice and on Friday we will again do relays and turns.
The meet theme for the first meet will be: Hawaiian Luau. Any swimmer who wishes can dress up in their best Hawaiian outfit for the meet. The coaches will all be dressed-up. We will keep you posted on warm-up times for each age group.
Again, if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact us. We are all here to help and make sure each swimmer has a fun and successful summer swim season.
Sincerely,
Your Coaching Staff
