Week 6 – June 28th

Dear THAT Families,

Congratulations on our first win of the season against the Dominion Club last week! The final score was Twin Hickory 1400 – Dominion Club 1187! We appreciate all the hard work from the swimmers as well as the volunteers. We couldn’t do it without you all!

All results are available on the team website. This includes any new records, triple and quad winners, and champs qualifiers.

A list of everyone who was DQ’ed will be placed in the back of the parent boxes that are put out at practice every day. We addressed DQ’s with each swimmer who was at Thursday’s practice. If you have any questions or would like to look for yourself feel free to contact us or look at the list.

All ribbons from the meet have been placed in the family boxes. They will be available near the blocks at every practice.

The next swim meet is versus Hungary Creek on Wednesday June 30th. Please let me know beforehand if you will not be able to attend a swim meet, preferably by the Friday before the swim meet.  Meet line-up and relays should be posted by every Tuesday morning.

The theme for this week will be “Red, White, and Blue” for the upcoming holiday! Dress in these colors if you would like when you show up for the meet.

The meet this week is home. Please remind your swimmer to get their stroke count during warm-ups!

This week we will be going to see “Grown Ups” at 12:30pm on Wednesday June 30th at the Short Pump movie theater. We try to go to a movie in attempts of getting the swimmers out of the sun for the meet and to get them to rest during the day. We would love everyone to attend. We are not responsible for swimmers at the theatre, but at least one swim coach will be in attendance.

At practice this week we will continue to work on things that we saw as common mistakes at the swim meet.

·         Monday we will be working on freestyle and starts

·         Tuesday we will be working on backstroke and breaststroke

·         Wednesday we will be working on turns and starts

·          Thursday will be having a fun practice. Please note that fun practice this year will be a combination of fun activities and swimming.

·         Friday we will be working on butterfly and starts.

For those of you who are new to the team, on Wednesday morning we will be having breakfast at the morning practices before the swim meet. The swimmers will still be getting in the water and swimming for the majority of practice; it will be mostly preparation for the meet and stroke work.

If you have any questions or concerns please let us know! We would be happy to help in any way possible!

Sincerely,

Your Coaching Staff
